The Society of American Archivists (SAA) is North America’s oldest and largest national archival professional association. It is the preeminent source of professional resources and the principal communication hub for American archivists. SAA’s mission is to promote the values and diversity of archives and archivists.
SAA believes that education and professional development are essential to the continued advancement of the profession. Its more than 80 continuing education programs, available online or for hosting by repositories and other institutions, assist individuals in meeting personal and professional goals by providing knowledge that is relevant to the archival profession. For example, SAA offers the Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) Curriculum and Certificate Program, designed to ensure that archivists adopt appropriate practices for appraising, capturing, preserving, and providing access to born-digital records. All SAA programs follow the Guidelines for Archival Continuing Education (ACE), which were developed by SAA’s Committee on Education.
